Description

This briefcase is made from thick rustic Hermann Oak English Harness leather that has a supple firm buttery feel that will patina to a rustic appearance.  The true beauty of this harness leather is when it forms a dull fade like a work saddle.  All solid brass trim including double Marcellino latches with a hand stitched flat handle that pulls up when used and could flatten if needed to store in tight areas.

I purchased a Newton case in harness leather a few years ago and for the most part I love the bag. Excellent craftsmanship, Joe is really attentive to detail and always answered emails within hours, sometimes in minutes.

I have 2 minor issues, if you can even call them that. I should have gotten the single latch. That double latch is nice but you eventually realize that it is not needed. on the other hand they might help to keep the flap corners down better but i would not know at this point. When i order another briefcase with a single latch I will update this review.

The second thing is the harness leather. It really is beautiful and soft, but it has built a discolored patina. A bit too much for my tastes especially when I’m wearing a suit, it is absolutely an attention getter because everyone comments. This is a great bag for dress down day. My next single latch briefcase I will be ordering will be in a darker finer
    English bridle leather.

My old harness briefcase is holding up nicely. It only has a single latch with no painted edges. It has built an incredible patina all over. i still get compliments.
